GIRSAL, on 29th July to 1st August 2019, visited Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) in Abuja to learn their operational setup.
The learning trip was to ascertain what has worked for them since implementing a similar scheme since 2013. It was also to uncover challenges and areas GIRSAL should give more attention to avoid repeated mistakes as it begins operations.
The GIRSAL team led by the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Takyi Sraha and other four senior staff members engaged with the CEO of NIRSAL Mr. Aliyu Abduhameed and some senior managers to discuss pertinent issues concerning the scheme.
The trip was relevant to GIRSAL because, during the design stage, the planning team looked at the NIRSAL set up as an existing blueprint to derive information from and, therefore, deemed it right to learn from at its implementation stage to get in-depth knowledge about their operation.
