GIRSAL Awards Partner Financial Institutions for Increased Lending to Agribusinesses

GIRSAL, through its Bank Rating Scheme, awarded 4 of its best performing participating financial institutions and other partners for their contribution to increased lending and capacity building to the agricultural sector at the 2021 Agric Lending Partner Financial Institutions Awards event.

This initiative, introduced by the CEO, Mr. Kwesi Korboe, recognizes the contribution of financial institutions’ lending to the sector, as well as the best performing facilitators of GIRSAL’s agriculture and agribusiness lending training course for staff of financial institutions. The awards have been introduced to appreciate the continuous business engagement and support for increased lending to the growth of the agricultural sector in Ghana.

The 2021 edition of the awards dinner took place on 22nd December 2021 at Alisa Hotel. The Awards ceremony was attended by the board and staff of GIRSAL, executives and staff  of GIRSAL’s partner financial institutions, training facilitators and other key stakeholders.

Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) was adjudged the overall best Partner Financial Institution lending to Agribusinesses for 2021; in addition, ADB won the awards for the Highest number of GIRSAL Agricultural Credit Guarantees and Highest value of GIRSAL Agricultural Guarantees.
Fidelity Bank won awards for the Best Quality Credit Guarantee Application and the Most Responsive Partner Institution for the year. Injaro Capital, an investment institution, received the Non-banking Partner Financial Institution award with the Highest Value of Credit Guarantee Application for 2021.

Miss Josephine Adarku Armah of ABSA bank was awarded the best relationship Manager with the Highest Value of Credit Guarantee Application for the year.

The second part of the awards recognized the dedication and effort of the training facilitators of the GIRSAL Agriculture and Agribusiness Lending Course for Staff of Financial Institutions. Mr. Ricky Aboagye Poku won the Best Facilitator for Agribusiness Courses, whiles Mr. Kwame Attrams was awarded the Best Facilitator for Finance Courses.
Alhaji Ali Muhamed Katu of the Ghana Agriculture Insurance Pool was awarded the Best Guest Facilitator of the training program for his Agricultural Insurance presentation.

Financial Institutions are awarded based on the quality and value of GIRSAL guaranteed agribusiness loans loan they issue within the year, as well as their level of responsiveness and engagement. Training facilitators are awarded based on evaluation scores and feedback from course participants after each training session during the training.
