Head of Credit Risk Monitoring, Compliance & ESG Unit
Kofi Sekyi Bondzie is the Head of Credit Risk Monitoring, Compliance and ESG Unit at GIRSAL, where he provides strategic leadership for credit risk oversight, compliance monitoring, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration across the organization’s credit guarantee portfolio. He oversees the review of agribusiness credit proposals, ensures compliance with offer conditions, and leads the monitoring of guaranteed projects to identify and mitigate emerging risks.
He is a seasoned agribusiness, enterprise risk, environmental, and credit risk management professional with over twenty-one years of experience across agricultural finance, credit risk management, monitoring and evaluation, and ESG compliance. His work is focused on strengthening credit policies, portfolio measurement methodologies, and risk reporting frameworks in line with GIRSAL’s risk appetite and strategic objectives, while promoting responsible and sustainable financing practices.
At GIRSAL, Kofi leads the Risk Team in managing default exposures, producing timely and accurate risk reports, and generating data-driven insights on project performance and impact. He also contributes to field monitoring and evaluation activities, supports capacity-building initiatives for internal teams and Partner Financial Institutions, and ensures the effective integration of ESG standards into credit decision-making and portfolio management.
Prior to his current role, Kofi served as Senior Risk Manager at GIRSAL. He previously spent over a decade at the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) PLC, where he held progressively senior roles including Head of the Value Chain Infrastructure Unit, Relationship Manager, Agricultural Project Manager, Acting Branch Manager, and Credit Officer. Earlier in his career, he served as a Technical Officer at the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) during his national service. This breadth of experience has provided him with deep expertise in credit origination, portfolio management, environmental and social risk assessment, and stakeholder engagement.
Kofi holds a Master of Science degree in Business Consulting and Enterprise Risk Management from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and an MBA in Agribusiness Management from the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Sunyani, an International Executive MBA in Strategic and Project Management from the Paris Graduate School of Management, a Bachelor of Technology degree in Computerized Accounting from Kumasi Technical University, and a Certificate in General Agriculture from Ohawu Agricultural College and currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science at KNUST.
