Non-Executive Director

Mr. Kwesi Korboe is a seasoned agribusiness and agri-finance professional with deep experience in agricultural policy, development finance, and market systems across Africa. He is the founding Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (GIRSAL Ltd), where he served from 2019 to June 2024, leading the establishment of a national risk-sharing mechanism to expand financial institutions’ lending to the agricultural sector. He currently works as an independent consultant specialising in agribusiness and agri-financial services.

Prior to GIRSAL, Mr. Korboe served as the USAID Embedded Advisor to Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture, providing strategic technical support to senior government leadership and contributing to the development of key agricultural policies and sector strategies.

He has held senior leadership roles with international development organisations, including ACDI/VOCA and Agribusiness Systems International, and served as Chief of Party for the Southern Horticultural Zone Project under Ghana’s Millennium Challenge Account Compact. He also played a central role in the design and negotiation of Ghana’s USD 547 million MCA Compact, with a focus on value chain development and financial tools for agribusiness.

Mr. Korboe holds an MA in Economic Policy Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Administration, and a BSc in Agriculture (Hons) from the University of Ghana. His professional experience spans multiple African countries, and he has worked extensively with donor-funded programmes supported by USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, AGRA, the African Development Bank, the World Bank, and the European Union.
